Susanne MacGregor holds a Leverhulme Emeritus Fellowship at the Centre for History in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She became Professor of Social Policy at the University of London in 1990 and is now Emeritus Professor. Since 2000 she has been Programme Coordinator for the UK Department of Health Policy Research Programme Drugs Misuse Research Initiative.

Since 2000 she has been Programme Coordinator for the UK Department of Health Policy Research Programme Drugs Misuse Research Initiative.
She is currently editing a collection based on the projects in this research programme entitled ‘Responding to Drugs Misuse: research and policy priorities in health and social care’ to be published by Routledge in 2009.
She was a Member of the Board of City Roads, (a crisis intervention service for young drug misusers in London) – for several years as an Executive Committee member (1978-90). She was also a Member of the Council of the Institute for the Study of Drug Dependence (ISDD) 1982-90 and served on its executive and finance committee.
