    Professor Michael Gossop is a leading researcher at the National Addiction Centre, King’s College London. For more than 30 years, he worked in the addiction treatment services at the Maudsley Hospital in London. His publications include more than 400 works. He has acted as Specialist Adviser on drug misuse to the House of Commons Select Committee on Science and Technology, and as an expert adviser on substance misuse problems to the Department of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office, and to other Government Departments. In 1998, he was presented with the European Addiction Research Award for “outstanding contributions to the advancement of addiction research”.

Lifeline Project: In 1971 the Lifeline Project opened a day centre for drug users in Manchester. Since its foundation Lifeline has grown and developed, and now works in a diverse range of settings across the UK. Our purpose is to relieve poverty, sickness and distress among those persons affected by addiction to drugs of any kind, and to educate the public on matters relating to drug misuse.
