Jim McCambridge was first trained in Sociology, and then in Social Work, and went on to work with drug users. He is a senior lecturer in Behaviour Change in London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In 2012 he was elected as the President of the WHO-sponsored International Network on Brief Interventions for Alcohol and Drugs (INEBRIA). He is a current member of the expert advisory group to the United Nations office for Drug Control project to develop International Standards on Prevention.
